A relative recently told me that she thought the depictions used up on this page of an ecstatic Jesus on the cross would be better to show him in pain—because she said that the Bible says he suffered. Perhaps so, but the art of seeing the LIGHT is a whole other understanding of dying, and also dying while still alive in Meditation.
Here Jesus’s suffering is is consoled by Spirit in a form we on Earth can understand, even more than from a Dove as Comforter.
The whole French Mabinogian belief would say the arm is from Mary Magdalene.
