Katherine Johnson leads to a Collection of LITHOPHANE carvings on corian or candle stone. The process shown here is somewhat how Lithophanes appear when light shines through them, but this is a pre-stage inversion like a negative; note the detail of the wrinkles.
Heard of LITHOPHANES? This Collection draws from photographs, taking a different look at the beauty of the photographic face. This Lithophane features the NASA math genius woman featured in the film, Hidden Figures. More at the link and the Lithophane of her, but i will say she means a lot to me, who might like to live to 101.
Katherine with LASER on wood is the newest addition to our carving tools. 101 year old Katherine Johnson shows Laser on Pine.
It can be 2d or 3D.
Laser is like woodburrning or shading, and lends to carvings a definitive line and shade as though the artist colored with charcoal or dark watercolor. But then if it’s on pine wood, you get its color effect as we see on Katherine’s portrait.

Tiger Bust is a 3D build sitting in a classic dish shape which accentuates the contours of the figure to make a robust carving.
